Simile
Simile is a comparison between two unlike things in a speech where the point of similarity is clearly stated. Here two unlike things are compared to each other and the point of similarity or resemblance is clearly stated. It is where a Simile differs from Metaphor. Metaphor is implicit comparison but Simile is explicit comparison. A simile, therefore, is always introduced by such words as like, as, such, so, similarly etc. The foundation of a simile is imagination. Simile is very widely used not only in poetry but also in prose.
Example: "You are as brave as a lion."
"They fought like cats and dogs."
