Ans : Jimmy Valentine wrote a letter to one of his old friend Billy in St. Louis. He asked Billy to meet him at Sullivan’s place at 9 p.m. on next wednesday. He wanted to wind up some little matters and to present him with the burglar’s tools. He did not need them because he wished to lead an honest life. He also informed Billy that he had a nice shoe store and within two weeks, he was going to marry the finest girl on earth. After getting married he would sell out and go to West.
He wrote the letter to inform Billy about his present position as a successful businessman and his future plans after marriage. Jimmy did not want to do any crooked thing because Annabel believed in him. He realised that leading an honest life was the only life as love had completely changed him. Thus, his words in the letter showed Jimmy’s metamorphosis as a good human being.
